why would the market drop when the USA markets drop, they are on other side of the world, ever noticed that correlation?
Specifically to your point because it means that consumers will have less money available to spend on consumption if their mortgage rates increase.
Business loans become more expensive that has an impact.
Some mortgage holders will default and .25% can be the tipping point especially for those coming of a fixed loan at 2.4%, for others the cumulative impact of the increases will be too much.
I am kind of hoping that you do need this sort of economic explanation of rising interest rates!
