I wish what you say were true, but suggest it is not as simple as that. Execs quietly pump up their remuneration packages over time, being careful to make the base look innocuous, and disguise the various bonuses in the total package amongst hundreds of words, options & rights which only 2% of ordinary folk would ever read.
Votes against remuneration proposals usually only follow some huge misstep or scandal. Not confined to WBC ... this applies to nearly all big companies.
... and do the executives "earn" their packages? Easy answer - no, and that applies even in cases where they meet every criteria and over-achieve like stunning superhumans. Nobody earns that much.
