At the end of the day, it is going to be a 3 month wait at minimum, with all the associated rig costs again.
To get so close with the MB rig on site...and then pull up stumps...well it must have been pretty serious. But is it worth the wait and all the additional expense? If it was personnel incompetence, surely they could have been replaced. Maybe the relationship broke down at a corporate level too. But this is where commercial judgment comes in. I'm not convinced we got the best outcome by a long stretch.
"The decision to terminate the DSA was made
based on concerns relating to safety, competency and
operational performance and reliability grounds,
with the latter supported by an independent audit of the
drill rig commissioned by New Standard and finalised on 6 February."
Well, why was an independent audit not conducted before commissioning back in 2011? It could be argued NSE failed in its due diligence. And did the rig need to be demobilised holus bolus?
