I've pointed out many times in the past, that lots of posters make comparisons between our stock market and other stock markets around the world. Usually with despairing comments that our market is underperforming.
Wrong comparison.
Australia is basically a commodities producing, export oriented market.
The best comparison for how we're doing is the Commodities Index. (DBC is the ETF tracking the Commodities Index.)
DBC from open at the beginning of this year, to close last night - up 4.2%.
As you point out - our market this year is up 4.6%. About right?
