That is a pretty standard IR response. A long term view from a company's planning perspective would mean 3 - 5 years.
People come to forum typically for anywhere between a few minutes to a year or 2's views which are short to medium term.
A lot of things can happen in 3 years. Just have to weigh your risk to the company's risk during this time frame.
