    From an economic point of view it’s in Australians interests to protect them.

    From a practical point of view providing the Japanese aren’t endangering the species or its variants then there is no immediate threat.

    Thinking further out what happens if Whale becomes a popular food/ meat source in Asia?
    Considering it taken 40 years to get whale numbers depending of species within 2/3 of pre whaling numbers and since its pretty obvious that this is a species that man can’t propagate and reintroduce into wild in some manner its clear these animals need to closely monitored and harvesting should be strictly controlled.

    Just my opinion.
