my sister went on a coarse on smsf at sydney uni before the last gfc.
at the end of the coarse she engaged the lecturer to manage her smsf.
he put her and my brother in law into bonds mq winton property and a few shares. less than a decade on, they almost have enough to retire!
i didn't ask her how much they start with, but it was probably between 1/3 and 1/2 million.
