I don't see why this is one of the worst charts on the ASX.
I have certainly seen much worse. Take a look at RMS, STB etc for some negative charts.
I know you are looking at the short term down trend on ABU but I like to look at the big picture.
Below is the weekly chart since the GFC lows.
It shows a large amount of volatility in an overall uptrend.
Considering the volatility, it is near enough to the long term uptrend line to interest me.
I see an excellent case to buy on fundamentals and very near term news flow and I see a good entry point on the long term chart.
The only negative I see is not specific to ABU using TA or FA; rather it is the current gold sector weakness.
Weakness that may continue for a while but weakness that is providing a very good value entry point.

This 6 month correction looks very similar to the one of 2009-2010. When that reversed it led to a quadrupling of the sp over the next 18 months.
That is the sort of gain I am looking for over the next year based on fundamentals.
I am sure many thought the chart looked terrible at the start of that 18month rally as well.
In fact it must have looked a lot worse because the long term trend was not established back then as it is now.
Look closely and you can see that for the last 3 weeks the decline has flattened off.
