Tonche, I don't believe the technology will instantly turn off the tap of piracy. Nor will Roadshow be expecting it to.
But what I think it'll do is make the 'DNA' of each video download unique, hence readily identifiable. So the trail of piracy will become obvious, and trackable.
Roadshow in this instance will better know who illegal distributors are and, I'd assume, be coming for 'em.
Given the extent of the problem, stemming a fraction of the tide in the sea of stolen intellectul property could equate to quite a lift in revenues. Hence proof of value.
Later, I expect the application of blockchain (decentralized and distributed digital ledger) technology will really seal the deal.
But I'm no expert, and if this is laughably homespun, I'm happy to walk the plank.![]()
