Public session set on LNG project near Point Tupper.

SYDNEY — Bear Head LNG Corp. is inviting the public to an open house.
The subsidiary of Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd. wants to continue developing an LNG facility near Point Tupper after purchasing the project last summer. Some completed work at the site includes construction of work roads, land clearing, site preparation and installation of two LNG tank foundations.

Project proponents plan to expand on existing infrastructure to create a facility that will export eight million tonnes of liquid natural gas per year. Bear Head project director John Godbold said the public is invited to provide feedback and can now review documents on the Nova Scotia Environment website.

“It’s part of the Nova Scotia Environment process, and we are looking for comments to the registration document that was submitted a week or so ago,” Godbold said Monday.
“We’ve gotten tremendous support both from the federal, provincial and local governments on the regulatory side, and we seem to have significant support from First Nations as well as various different labour organizations,” Godbold said Monday.
Officials hope to begin construction in 2016.

Construction materials would have to be imported by road and by sea, and the facility also needs a gas transmission pipe built to connect with the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline near Goldboro — a distance of about 60 kilometres.

The open house will take place Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Heritage Church on Henry Paint Street in Point Tupper. The session ends at 8 p.m.

Most of the above pointed out at recent presentations ;-)
