UBS have done the most selling over the past year by far.
For the last week of data we do have (13th-20th), UBS have been net buyers and the largest sellers were Instinet and Merill Lynch. UBS are still trading the most volume by far though, which tells me they are on both the bid and offer. It would not surprise me to learn that UBS have become the largest seller again once the recent data becomes available.
Commonwealth are buying the most shares, however since January we can see brokers such as Euroz, Canaccord, Argonaut, and Bell Potter becoming net buyers too.
I believe that one or more institutions begun a short position on the 28th of May (after Duncan sold) using UBS as their broker. They continued to average down and my estimate is that at the lows in September their average price would have been around $3.70 - at this point the short interest was 9.38% and they were probably up at least 30%. When the price started going against them they doubled down on their position. During the highs in October 2024 they were probably losing money.
My guess it that now their average short price must be around $3.25.They are in the money, but every time they stop selling the price goes up.
The screenshot below shows the share price and change in net volume of each of the three brokers who have sold the most shares over the past 3 months.
If the uranium market sentiment improves (which would not take much) then i think whoever is holding this short position is truly boned.
