I agree its not good to follow stocks without considering the downside.
However, the proposition that stocks are not manipulated is ludicrous.
The lower the amount of money/script required the more adept the manipulator.
Entities that might be advantaged by depressing FAR's share price in the current scenario:
....just about everyone and you know the reasoning in each case.
How is it done? Using agencies that specialise in this kind of algorithmic work.
FAR are running a gauntlet right now. They have only one real friend and that is Senegal. This is only because the host will have common interests and history is littered with nations that have been screwed out of their fare share of a resource by big business.
I imagine that all the options being discussed on this forum right now are actually happening. I have no position to put to you as to which strategy will prevail or whether FAR can be an effective part of bringing this enterprise in.
I will say that FAR should have been aware of the likely scenarios (historically) when they penned the farm-out agreements. Once effective control of the venture passed to the joint venture there would be an expectation that this sort of manipulation would be on the cards. I also note that the staff they have brought in seem to be specialists in these scenarios as opposed to oil operations gurus.
My judgement is that a positive outcome is the most likely scenario although the probability of FAR taking this all the way to production as the main driver is very low.
We have a few posters that obviously post for day trading purposes. This is not unusual and they are just trying to earn a dollar like the rest of us, no harm, no foul.
