From what I understand, Thorium is the cause of radiation after REE extraction. Since the Japanese nuclear issues with Uranium and Plutonium, Thorium may be the future of nuclear reactors.

I'm betting they'll wait for the Thorium bubble, before they make their move. Of course, it would help if they found some REEs to begin with. LOL.
