Some people write some real rubbish about what mpl can do in other businesses or in terms of integration opportunities as well how others can become health insurers.
It is as sensible as a car repair shop becoming an insurer. I can't think of one. And I don't know any home insurance companies running building companies, selling furniture etc.
If we do move to a more integrated model in Australia, which would be difficult due to the complex funding issues, State and Federal Government plus private expenditure, it will be through large health management/maintenance organizations who may or may not own facilities but will contract with them.
