Xstrata has ensured that any counter bidders must move very quickly by saying today that their offer closes at the end of Feb. So we will not have to wait long to see if RIO bids.
By the end of Feb WMR will almost certainly have a new owner and any potential bidders know they must act now or it will be gone. Xstrata is playing this very well.
