Good post...
But we are not just fighting for ourselves....

We are fighting for our children and their children and the types of societies we leave as our legacy for them.

If we:
1/ show our children that these terrorist/criminal groups are legitimate players that the government must recognise and negotiate with on the same status as soverign states

2/show our children that the only way to deal with these terror/criminal groups is not by elimination, but but giving in to their demands

3/ conduct the fight with less than a maximum effort to eliminate the terror groups

we condemm our children to a lifetime possibly more terrible than anything we can imagine now, and where they have little of no direct knowledge and understanding of the inevitable disaster that comes from the folly of not standing up to terrorists at an early stage, and so will find it even harder to mobilize to defeat the terrorists.

My kids deserve better than that... I am sure you think the same for yours.
