Let's also look at the last 6 months - historic low interest rates, property prices going through the roof (no pun intended) and petrol prices lower than normal. Even though there might be some economic worries regarding unemployment and the mining slowdown, I don't believe it really impacts consumer spending.
Also, with the lower AUD impacting the last 6 months, I know I've heavily curbed my online spending and actually started buying in store again. This is also a negative for Myer in regards to higher costs, however I believe we may be in for a surprise when the results come out.
