Why couldnt they do a share consolidation, where they reduce the shares by half so you get 1 share for every 2 shares you own.

This would bring the total shares on issue down to say 1Bn.

They would then we able to increase the dividend they could pay eg from 2c to 4c.

It would also increase the share price as there would be less shares on issue, naturally.

This in turn would increase the share price and once it had raised to an attractive level, they could then issue more shares to raise money to pay off the debt.

As CNP is the majority holder would they be able to pass something like this.
