The oil industry is also massively oversupplied, not sure about natural gas but i think its close. The arabs control the supply of oil so the price stays relatively high.
AGO is a medium cost producer not a high cost producer, no one has even discussed the possibility of AGO mining only its best and cheapest mines at full capacity while mothballing the others and any local expansion. Why does the ore price hitting $70 a tonne for a brief period have to do with AGO's survival, Atlas is a long term play and we have to rely on their creditors seeing it this way.
