You just want someone with whom you can commune... someone who shares your values, maybe a guy who has spent time studying the Pali Canon and perhaps done a few months at a Theravadan retreat in Thailand. Or maybe a Buddhist monk surfer, someone who is on the same page. That's what you really want... a confidant, a partner.

Let me say, that confidant should be a woman, preferably a hot one whose company and body you can enjoy!

As for your concentration practice ... great! If you can be bothered, that is. My personal experience tells me it's extremely hard to even reach 1st jhana, let alone 3rd, 5th, 8th.... 1st is all I have done, and it lasted about 0.5 seconds, literally. Yes it was amazing, but really....come on now...
