Yes - fair point. But there were some differences:
- MAP had immediate positive earnings (does SGS ?)
- Macquarie bought a monopoly, and they could ramp prices up until people started screaming, then back off a bit (ie what they did)
Paying for goodwill is not a bad thing, unless there aren't the earnings to justify it ...
