    3D printing of homes will probably never be as fast or as effective as bricks, or at least is a long way off from being feasible. A problem with 3D printing is that the mix would need to cured before the next layer can be added, restricting the lay rate for the build. With bricks, the next layer can be added directly after. For FBR one of the main selling points is the incredibly short on-site presence, which could be reduced by further machines. This could reduce build times to as low as a couple of days. Also, 3D printing machines I imagine would take considerable cleaning efforts similar to those required for concrete pumps and trucks.

    additionally, the design of the bricks allow for features to be built-in, like moisture control, tie-downs, insulating properties. The bricks can also have an overall lower mass because they are filled with voids.

    3D printing would probably be most advantageous in builds with complex curves which would be impossible with bricks
