A set of rings and bearings along with a gasket set can double the life of the engine, I've done this several times in the past. but late model engines are full of sensors that are prone to malfunctioning so replacing them can cost a small fortune. Still, a set of rings and bearings save replacing the car with another one so is an environmentally responsible choice.
