That is where we agree & what I said 2 or more years ago.
I really don't care about how the car is powered, but it needs to outperform on every level, issue less toxins cradle to grave & use less resources...which they simply are not doing at planet saving level.. keep the old car is the best thing for the planet right now

Solid state may make some inroads, but scaling up is another level.
It has to be built in a clean room on a par to microchips, no oxygen or other trace gases.. or they fail....easy for a test bed...hard to scale...but still not where we need to be for power to weight, however an improvement of Li.

Re fires - Note they NEVER give the stats for ICE vehicles manufactured post say 2019 (to compare same aged vehicles) as Ev's that catch fire

Statistically you would expect a 40 or 50 years old car to catch fire via simple lack of maintenance, failure of insulation (fire may not be fuel related).
I saw a mates Nissan Xtrail catch on fire... not being driven ..the culprit..mice/ rodents eating the electrical wiring insulation...
..Ev's are not immune to this & in fact have what 4 times the coppers wiring / more insulation that will
