The deadlines introduced for CRMA strategic project permit decisions will be a great benefit for expansion plans for mining 600/1000/2000ktpa. I would expect Talga to get picked up in the first round of strategic projects and planning for the expansion can be done with more certainty.
Won't affect the current SC situation though. While the case is significant for us, on the scale between stealing boats with/without using its engine and extraditing terrorists to Turkey, in the SC's view a mining permit probably sits closer to the motorboat decision. There seems to be no climate emergency in the court system. I also disagree with any suggestion that the SC would wait for CRMA to take effect before handing down their decision, it's not how these things work.
The wait is frustrating in the short term but longer term the plans still align with what customers need.
