    I have read and listened to quite a few of Amory Lovins' presentations. He's a smart guy and has pretty good presentation skills. What I find interesting about him is the engineering options he presents that are just a better version of what we have. Improving efficiencies by better design and reducing the demand in the first place.
    I don't think he gets enough credit on this. I also don't think there's anywhere near enough focus on reducing energy use through better design in the whole emission reduction discussion.

    Gravity energy storage makes a lot of sense. The infrastructure technology is fully mature. Easy to maintain. Fully automated and can be located on a small footprint. They are aIso quiet. I anticipate that they could be built in industrial warehousing areas where large solar roof systems exist thus providing significant local storage and time shifting of energy.
    Even better where there are old mineshafts which could make them almost disappear from sight.
