The patent is around the type of testing they do on the cows or something, not the a2 protein itself. As far as I'm aware there's only one other tiny company in the US that is doing a2 only milk.
If you're worried about future competition I would say a2m has a massive first mover advantage, and if other major players start doing a2 only then it would be a massive endorsement of the a2 product.
