Reading your comparison with buying a home makes a lot of sense. It's inevitable that one day borders will open again, there will be mass immigration to boost the economy and no doubt the share price of supermarkets will all go up.
I'm thinking of maybe doing the same, I have 250k in an offset account just sitting there saving me 3% interest a year.
