I don't believe this is correct!
I have been holding ESI in my SMSF now for over 4 years and have my SMSF audited by an Accountant and submitted to the ATO.. I have never been questioned by the ATO regarding this or any other non Top 200 or 300 share I have.
Also, I have looked at several sites regarding this and none state that you cannot purchase shares outside the top 200/300.
