Plough, I agree with you now, unfortunatley I think its all way too late, they needed to be in there within a few hours to find anyone alive.Interesting they're putting a bundle in now, should be asking why did they not have one to begin with.
The other point is aparently they were not cutting coal on this shift, so where did that amount of gas come from undetected.
I also thing the police and most of the rescue services are so embroiled with OSH protocols these days at times common sense is a scarce commodity, it certainly is a balancing act but surely its worth the risk of a couple of guys going a reccy as long as they are willing to do so.
Time will be the judge, I just watched the footage of the virginia mine balst last year, very similar and they had rescurers in there within 4 hours...
