To Bernard 99---The latest I've heard is that they are drilling a hole down into the tunnel [I would presume nearer where the men were working]the drill-hole is expected to take all day to drill,they want to check the air temperature gas readings etc.
If they have gone, the miner's probably would have been snuffed so quick they wouldn't have known what hit them.The loader driver 700 metres away was blown off his loader and was lying stunned on the ground by the blast,it sounds like he was discovered by the electrician.They got out through some ventilation shaft or something.
The management have to tread a fine line of giving some hope to the grieving relatives and hiding the grim reality of the situation.
I live about four @ a half hours motoring away.
