I worked in shipbuilding some years ago, the company I worked for built the Aurora Australis a Wartsila designed Icebreaker for the antarctic. Amazing vessel had 3 propulsion systems on board Diesel, Gas and Electric, each could be used in isolation or all three in line when crashing through pack ice. the diesels were massive. Those were great days, all gone now.
