Germany is the country with one of the largest populations in Europe, and has a strong economy. Germany is offering help to other countries so they can overcome their economic malaise. One condition for offering huge loans is that the countries should be able to pay back. To do so, some of them must cut government spending, or sell off assets. The various countries can accept the help on these terms, or they can say no.

Like it or not, Germany is by far the only leader in the European Union. The previous union of Germany and France has fallen apart. France is going through tough times, while the German economy is on the rise. Germany assumed the role of the leader of the EU and has to pull the economy of Greece, Spain and Italy, solving the existing problems in these countries. Perhaps these solutions look excessively tough, but against the background of the crisis they are highly effective. Southern Europe has painted itself into a corner, constantly growing its debt. Living in debt cannot continue forever. Now, without the aid of Germany Greeks, Spaniards and Italians simply cannot survive.

But here is the rub though,if EU were to decide to introduce EU bonds, where would that leave the Euro dollar?,

At present Germany wouldn't accept that, just as none of the EU members could devalue for obvious reasons,BUT what's to stop the EU bond selling?, using this back door method is an option and is possible.

Germany, remember, accounts for 28% of the whole Eurozone economy. It is not fanciful to imagine that imbalances in the German economy are capable of driving – or at amplifying – imbalances within the entire region. Also Germany’s capacity to buy from Europe is even more limited than its stagnating wages.

So Merkel ensures that German banks get their loans repaid -whether greece or by European taxpayers general. Yet by imposing austerity upon Germany she is doing exactly the opposite of resolving the European economic crisis, and giving Greece a way out.
