you've got to remember that its a 20+ year opperation, a years delay for huge savings on OPEX will most likely turn out to be worth it imo... you dont build a half billion dollar operation without doing a bit of DD first, i trust the company has weighed up the options...

so many manufacturing jobs being slashed in australia. Ford have signaled the exit from their operations in victoria in a few years time (despite being propped up by the state government for years). my brother is an engineer and the company he works for is going under etc etc etc

all the jobs are going to places like malaysia, where you get highly skilled engineers at 1/4 of the price... why on earth would you run lynas in australia on opex considerations alone, and then you take into account the benefits of being close to a downstream manufacturing market etc

im happy malaysia has worked out...
