    Thanks dlux, an interesting article.

    I've often wondered whether, in the event of a crash, the circuit breakers will increase the panic rather than lessen it.

    About 3 years ago I was holding a large call position in a stock that started to fall. As it was deep itm there was basically only me and the MM in the trade. The MM must have gone to lunch because suddenly he disappeared from market depth. I sweated for about 45 minutes until he returned. By then the stock had steadied above my get out price but I'd had the frighteners put on me so I sold anyway.
    Believe me, not being able to trade is a nasty feeling and is going to cause more panic than leaving the market find its own level imo.
