I'm certainly not an expert, but I would be very surprised if you could transfer US shares trading on a US exchange to an Australian account. Probably an issue of terminology. I have an Australian account (with CommSec) and an account with Pershing (US broker). I can transfer money between the two accounts. I can buy and sell US shares using the US broker via a facility provided by CommSec, but the shares always live in the US system. The only thing I can transfer to Australia is the cash (that may come from selling, say, my Vaxart shares).
It took me a loooong time to get the Pershing account - because I kept on filling out the forms incorrectly. It was only through the assistance of CommSec that I was finally able to lodge a form with acceptable details. I think ANZ need to be more helpful!
