GBB, would it be fair to say you sold your interest so that your gain from the transaction became some one's loss because subsequently the prices fell? Whom ever bought the shares from you would have suffered a loss because of that. But you would also miss out on subsequent gains if the prices went north, so it's a fair trade I would say.
