Could you post a few examples of silver selling for less than spot, other than someone not knowing the value of what they are selling and listing the item as a buy it now, (and the item get snapped up in minutes)
I just checked all the listings for "silver bullion" sold today and can only see one listing selling for around spot
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bulk-Lot-Australia-Silver-Coin-Post-46-500-Sil-438g-/280669493719?pt=AU_Bullion&hash=item41593499d7
I tried to buy silver today from the mint, the conversation went something like this (after giving them my member number)
I would like to buy some silver, do you have any 100 oz bars
No
what about kilo bars
No
any 10s or 20s
none of them either
Can I put some on order
No, we are not taking orders for silver bullion
Do you have any silver
Yes, we have halfs, 2oz, kilo coins
Are you sure you have kilo coins as I just tried to
buy some through your web site and the kooks, koalas and lunars all say they are out of stock when I try to put them in my cart
We have had a busy day, I can check with my bullion manager to seen if he will transfer any out for you
That would be great, I will keep a check online for them.
I did manage to get one kilo kooka in my cart, but before
I got to finalise the transaction, the item was no longer available
The lass on the phone was very freindly and polite, but I think I would get sick of saying this all day!
You can see why silver sold off so hard, there is plenty of it around
cheers grant
