A friend of mine shared some 24 or so DVD episodes on WW1, the BBC produced documentary series made in the 60's.
I sat through them all and I can tell you, it was perhaps the biggest eye opener and revelation of my life.
I knew something about WW1. The deprivations suffered and the true slaughter not to mention the history were simply breath taking.
And it all started with a shooting of an Austrian prince, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne.

Eight and a half million lost their lives because of the death of one man.
And consider this.
Had a certain German corporal not survived his wounds on the battlefield after being gassed, would WW2 have happened?
And who was that German corporal?
Adolph Hitler.
