what does it cost to open a coffee shop?, page-14

One thing you can't ignore DSD is the amount of people going out for coffee.....I'm guilty myself...at least 5 or 6 times a week, even if there's nothing else on the agenda.
I live in a small (38,000 pop.) regional city and it seems we're over supplied with coffee shops, but they all seem to be going well.
Probably 10 years ago we might have had 8, now it's more like more than 20.
I think the only franchised shop is Jaffa Java...rest are all independents.
Used to have a Gloria Jeans, but that is now an independent as well.
