You guys have such a fixation on traditions that stem from pagan origins that you forget that most Christian beliefs have parallels in paganism such as the virgin birth, the sacrifice, the resurrection etc that you end up focusing on trivia rather than the central message.
What's wrong with celebrating momentous occasions such as birthdays, including that of Jesus irrespective of what some did and din't do in past?
Why deprive children (and adults) the of joys celebrations good things that have happened? - I doubt that your God wants you to be continuously miserable.
Mind you I may be continuously miserable if I thought that the majority of humankind is about to be burnt.
