jo-i really dont see the difference between what you have to say and gunns, the information regarding alternative processing to chlorine is all available on the net,and both present difficulties, read gunns proposal they are aware of the controversy surrounding chlorine, however there are not an endless array of viable alternatives,as for clear felling no one in the world likes it,even the people who do it,however it comes down to economics and in most countrys where it has been historically practised it is being replaced with plantations.
in most countrys that still clear fell it accounts for a small
percentage of the total market, transition will probably be ten to 20 years before the practice almost ceases.
it seems people like the benefits of industry (income and economic growth) but not the disadvantages,i suppose its like bacon and eggs nice for breakfast but you wouldnt want to live between piggery and a poultry shed,i know i wouldnt, nor would i like living next to a rotting watermelon
patch.
the obvious solution for those who dont like the by product of the timber industry--move where you wont see it,cant smell it,and never hear it, the people who stay will probably enjoy the benefits you know regular employment, school for the kids,a social life, confidence
