    KSBSI Wajo Value PT. Energy Sengkang Arrogant in Layoff Plans

    MEDIABAHANA. COM, WAJO — The discourse on Termination of Employment (PHK) which will be carried out by the management of PT Energi Sengkang, Wajo Regency, on October 25, 2022, has made a number of company employees nervous.

    The layoff plan is considered to have violated the rules and the Collective Labor Agreement (PKB) that had been agreed between Management and Employees.

    This was stated by the Chairman of the KSBSI of Wajo Regency, Abdul Kadir Nongko in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) held by Commission IV of the Wajo DPRD, Monday, October 7, 2022 in the Leadership Meeting Room.

    According to Kadir, this layoff plan was not communicated openly by management with employees.

    "The management is not open about layoffs, even during a meeting with employees, the Director asked the employees to immediately receive their severance pay because they don't buy diesel fuel," said Kadir.

    Kadir compared the layoff plans to be carried out by PT Energi Equity Epic Sengkang (EEES) with PT Energi Sengkang. The plan to lay off PT EEES does not cause turmoil and is safe, because the management of PT EEES opens a space for communication and refers to the mutual agreement that has been agreed previously.

    Meanwhile, the management of PT Energi Sengkang is arrogant by deciding for themselves the layoff plan for employees without referring to the PKB that has been signed together.

    "PT Energi Sengkang is arrogant in its plan to lay off employees, management does not open communication space with employees," he said.

    The head of the Wajo Regency Independent Legal Pelita, Sudirman SH MH, conveyed the same thing. He said, there was a logic that was injured, PT Energi Sengkang did not refer to the PKB which had been signed by management and employees.

    doing layoffs, it is mandatory for companies and the government to try to prevent layoffs from happening.

    “Has the management of PT Energi Sengkang ever sat down with the government and DPRD to discuss the layoff plan. This must be done in accordance with the PKB that has been signed together," he said.

    Even if layoffs occur, the advocate continued, the management together with employees must decide the value of the severance pay to be paid to employees.

    In addition, the management of PT Energi Sengkang must prioritize laid-off employees to be rehired, if the company needs more employees.

    “I think there is no problem if the company's management fulfills the points I mentioned. And of course it won't be as noisy as it is now," he said.

    Director of PT Energi Sengkang, Hasnaeni Asri denied that the management would lay off workers on October 25, 2022.

    In fact, Hasnaeni continued, layoffs will indeed be carried out after the end of the contract with PT PLN last September.

    Hasnaeni also said that his party had held a meeting with employees to socialize the layoff plan that would be carried out by the management of PT Energi.

    “We have had several meetings with employees and it is not possible to lay off workers without mutual agreement with employees. And of course PKB will be a reference in doing layoffs," he explained.

    Member of Commission IV of the Wajo DPRD, Ir Junaidi Muhammad hoped that the management of PT Energi, after the layoffs, would prioritize old employees if there was a re-admission.

    "We want PT Energi Sengkang to be committed to prioritizing old employees if there are new employees," he said.

    The same thing was conveyed by H. Anwar from the Nasdem faction, he also hoped that PT Energi Sengkang would prioritize old employees if there were new employees.

    “I hope that PT Energi Sengkang will prioritize old employees if there is an acceptance. Don't let them be laid off and then there will be new employee recruitment, even though they have experience,” he hoped.

    Chairman of Commission IV of the Wajo DPRD, AD Mayang, said that the RDP was implemented because of the aspirations of the KSBSI and PHI regarding the planned layoffs that would be carried out by the management of PT Energi Sengkang.

    "This RDP was implemented because of the aspirations of the Wajo DPRD on October 6 and 7 regarding the plan to lay off employees by PT Energi Sengkang," he said. (**)
