IMO, our relative position in the economic world is very important because lets face it , if were a 3rd world country on the brink of famine and war, social/moral issues would not likely be at the top of our agenda. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)_per_capita We're rated in the high 20s in GDP/capita PPP and # 17 or so in GDP USD and, IMO, we simply have to not take our eye off the ball and delicate our economic wellbeing to others, particularly the multinationals who dominate our domestic economy at present. That said, however, there are divisive social issues (somemay call them Cultural/Religious) which are dividing us and rather than live up to our name as being a pluralistic/multicultural society where everyone gets a fair go including minorities, there are many on these threads who could be fairly classified as rusted-on monomaniacs rather than being reasonable and afford others their freedoms too. Organised Religion is a case in point. IMO, its away more important to find common ground so that we can rejoice in being Aussies and the mateship that engenders; not a mean/nasty/competitive contest to say that I'm better than you. An example of what I mean is when one encounters a fellow Aussie traveler in some far flung corner of the world where everything is foreign including language and the immediate mateship one experience merely by hearing the Aussie accent let alone having a chinwag over a beer. Our tribe is Australian, not some belligerent pissfart backwater of it....eh? Just think about eh? The world loves us for being a good sport, not one eyed bigots!

You are right and your sentiment is admirable. However, OMG here it comes, Aussies like you have been migrated into a minority so the stuff that I/you like is being pi55ed away
