Yes, I agree Labor lost a large swathe of its left to The Greens and has since tried to woo them back, without great success.
However, I do think another great schism is quite apparent -inner city lefties with progressive social ideas vs traditional blue collar with conservative social ideals. The two groups loathe each other.
I believe it would be detrimental to our democracy were Labor to further fracture. Our strength and stability derives from having two centrist major Parties we can alternate between. The challenge for Labor is not to keep wandering from the centrist position most voters want.
