Very informative article. Do you have any information on the effect on profitability for food production - primary and secondary production - of the duopoly pricing power of Woolworths and Westfarmers? I avoid shopping at the big chains as I (rightly or wrongly) attribute some of the pain in our ag sector to their cut throat tactics. Even though I work full time, I would rather go to a lot more trouble to drive to a farmers' market - and get much tastier fresher products. I am aware this is a tiny niche market but hope it will grow.
