Ahhh.... I love all these arguments that global warming is a fallacy. The planet's not warming up right??

Then can anyone please explain why the arctic ice sheet is melting?

Read this article... the ice between the Atlantic & Pacific oceans has melted for the first time ever (actually 10 years before they thought it would happen). Govts are now clamoring to get ownership of this new passage as it provides an alternative shipping route avoiding the Panama canal.

"Leif Toudal Pedersen of the Danish National Space Center said the sea ice has declined by about 38,600 square miles (100,000 square kilometers) a year for the last decade, making this year's decline "extreme."

Now you guys can carry on about the science being wrong, the planet isn't really warming up, etc. So can anyone give me a VALID explanation of why the ice is melting so fast if the planet isn't warming?

Losing 100,000 square kilometers of Arctic ice every year is no small thing!
