don’t think so. China increasingly belligerent, South Korea is a key regional nation who have been to date pivoting a middle ground with China as a means to get North Korean solutions on the table. This new defense pact and defense materials contract is being touted as a new direction in South Korean diplomacy given the recent AUKUS stink that China put up. A South Korean defense tie up is a lot more meaningful than a Singaporean/Israeli contract. The geo politics have changed and the relationship with South Korea economically is critical. We do more trade with South Korea than the US.
