I am disappointed with this whole hydrogen embrittlement saga. Surely if you are drilling a $20 million well you want to make sure you know the chemistry of what's down there and take appropriate steps to guard against the potential consequences? I'm sure myself and many others will be asking exactly why the hell they didn't anticipate this at their forthcoming investor briefings.

Having said that this is a risky sector and we all know the risks involved. Aside from being down on my investment, I now have to be a slave for a day for my brother at Xmas time if the SP is not above $1! The only thing that may save me now is a hefty REDP grant which is still likely to go to GDY IMO. Could be a good REDP play at these prices, perhaps?

I would also suggest that diversification in this sector is a must. I think PAX are looking good for the first mulitple MW grid connected geothermal power station in Aus by end 2001/early 2012. My rough calculations indicate they will be cost competitive with coal if the price of REC's stay at or above about $30 per MWh. Apologies for the cross promotion but PAX is mentioned in the article above. I hold GDY, PAX and PTR.
