Ben, Tony Abbott may be a happily married man and is Rhodes scholar thou if it wasn't documented you wouldn't think so but as for "succesful" leader of the liberal party that would be incorrect.

A successful leader is one that has achieve great things, Abbott was not successful at leading the Libs to victory at the last election and it is suggested that it was because of him that they lost. Abbott failed to successfully negotiate with the independents’ to form Government.

What Abbott has succeeded in doing is participate in bringing the quality of debate in parliament to an all time low along with his popularity. Not something one would be proud of.

An opposition party is still part of parliament and they are in a position to put their own stamp on government policy. We judge the performance of the opposition as a possible alternative government, sadly Abbott's performance does not demonstrate he is a creditable alternative.

Before you attack me for that observation, remember it’s not just me but 63% of voters are dissatisfied with Abbott. That’s an achievement few leaders have made, is that the sort of success you admire?
